FSIS Risk Assessments Models
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is the public health agency in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) responsible for ensuring that the nation's commercial supply of meat, poultry, and egg products is safe, wholesome, and correctly labeled and packaged. FSIS develops chemical and microbial risk assessments and risk-based algorithms to guide agency policy development and resource allocation decisions. Many of these assessments are legally required, along with a cost-benefit analysis, under Executive Order 12866 and the Department of Agriculture Reorganization Act of 1994 (Public Law 103-354) as the scientific basis for many FSIS food safety policies.
Below is the list of completed risk assessments conducted by FSIS. The respective risk assessment models as well as the background information and reports can also be found via the links below as well as on the FSIS website.
To view the models developed by FSIS you will need to use a program such as a WinZIP to unzip the files and the enable macros in your Excel.
