This webpage provides exclusive access to supplemental tables, datasets, and figures from this research article published in the Journal of Food Protection. In this research article, the researchers provide an analysis of nationally representative consumption estimates by estimating consumption frequencies, serving sizes, and processing forms for a variety of produce commodities based on 1999 through 2006 data from ‘‘What We Eat in America,’’ the dietary interview component of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey performed by the National Center for Health Statistics. Consumption patterns for fresh and heat-treated produce were assessed, compared with U.S. food availability estimates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service (ERS), and combined with ERS data on temporal trends in food availability and nondomestic produce origins. To identify high-consuming population subgroups, the researchers explored consumer habits and demographic predictors of fresh produce consumption (the data that is available on this webpage). 

This report presents the results of an investigation performed by the  working group  on data collection for the identification of emerging risks related to food and feed  (DACO WG).  The  WG  proposed a  procedure to identify, assess, rank and prioritize data sources  - a two-step process based on the National Intelligence Model and the Dataquest approaches. This procedure consists of i) an initial classification of the identified data sources, followed by a monitoring period of the pre-selected data sources and ii) a consecutive and more detailed quality assessment of the relevant data sources for ranking and prioritization purposes. The dataset containing the characterization of the sources identified is included as an Excel file. 

On September 22, 2010, Abbott issued a voluntary recall of certain Similac powdered infant formula after identifying a common warehouse beetle (both larvae and adults) in the finished product at their Sturgis, Michigan plant. The company immediately put all product manufactured at the Michigan plant on hold and ceased manufacturing at that location. FDA has advised against consumption of the recalled product and urged consumers to follow the manufacturer's instructions for reporting and returning the formula. This dataset provides the recall data.

EcoSure, the food safety & quality assurance division of Ecolab, has updated the 1999 Audits International cold temperature data base (found here). In addition to an updated data set, the new data help determine whether changes have occurred in cold temperature storage practices of food both in retail establishments and in consumer homes.

The International Food Information Council 2010 "Consumer Perceptions of Food Technology" Survey explores U.S. consumers’ perceptions of various aspects of plant and animal biotechnology, as well as sustainability and new and emerging technologies such as nanotechnology. Resources provided include a table of GBD regions for WHO member states, demographic information (including Generic Disease Model, Population, Deaths, and Reproduction Rates, and Health State Valuations), tools to support CEA, background papers, and more. Tools listed include PopMod, a population model that can incorporate two distinct disease conditions, CostIt, software for recording and analyzing cost data, and MCLeague, or Monte Carlo League, which provides stochastic league tables for uncertainty around costs and effects. The ILSI Crop Composition Database is a project of the International Life Sciences Institute. The first three versions of the database have represented a compilation of crop analyses from a number of companies engaged in agricultural life sciences. Through ILSI, the participants have standardized and pooled their crop data in order to make the data available to scientists from academia, government agencies, and industry, and to the general public. It is envisioned that future versions of the database will include other publicly available data that meet the acceptability criteria of ILSI and are submitted from scientists and other researchers representing a variety of public and private organizations.
