URL: http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/_srcfiles/ACF27EE.pdf
Format: PDF
Report of a study to determine how businesses are adapting to and complying with GM food labeling requirements in Australia that went into effect in December 2001. Products derived from corn and soy were tested for the presence of GM food, labels were examined, and documents of food manufacturers, importers, and retailers were surveyed for evidence that their products were in compliance with GM food regulations. The presence of a management system for determining GM status of ingredients was also included in the document surveys. Determining the usefulness of document surveys in determining compliance with GM food labeling requirements was also an objective of this study.
